Layout quantities and BOM outputs

How table counts, foundation posts, and related layout statistics become quantity inputs for estimating and procurement.

Updated 2026-08-22

A layout that cannot produce counts is a picture. Solar Layout Studio is built to produce quantities: modules, tables, rows, foundation posts, and related statistics such as buildable area.

What rolls up

Typical roll-ups include:

  • module and table counts
  • row counts and utilization of the buildable envelope
  • foundation post counts from table types
  • area statistics for the buildable polygon

These outputs are intended to feed estimating line items and structural procurement packages. They are not a complete electrical or civil BOM by themselves.

Revisions

When the layout revision changes, quantities should change with it. Hand-editing three estimate lines “because we added a row” is how bids lose their paper trail. Prefer re-compiling from the layout revision.

Limits

BOM completeness depends on what the layout and downstream catalogs actually contain. Do not assume inverters, cable, or civil quantities appear automatically unless those items are in the connected estimate methods.
