Quote comparison
How supplier quotations are compared on price, landed cost, lead time, and completeness — not on a single cell in an email.
Updated 2026-08-22
Quote comparison exists because the lowest unit price is rarely the whole story.
The procurement engines can compare quotations with:
- currency normalization
- landed-cost calculation when freight and related inputs are present
- lead-time comparison
- flags for incomplete submissions
- unusual-bid detection
Evaluation weights and award recommendation helpers exist for structured scoring. They do not remove commercial judgment.
Completeness
An incomplete quote that wins on unit price is not cheaper; it is unfinished. Flag missing freight, coating, or origin rather than filling gaps from memory.
After award
Awarded values should become commitments that Project Controls can see. A comparison worksheet that never becomes a PO is not procurement — it is a meeting artifact.
