Tables and rows
How modules assemble into tables, how exterior and interior tables differ, and how rows organize tables across a ground-mount site.
Updated 2026-08-22
In Solar Layout Studio terminology:
- a module is one photovoltaic panel
- a string is a series-connected group of modules
- a table is the smallest structural assembly placed in a row — modules, structure, and foundation posts
- a row is a linear arrangement of tables
Table types
The workspace distinguishes exterior tables (row ends) from interior tables. Exterior tables use smaller module counts and two foundation posts. Interior tables use larger module counts and three foundation posts. Preferred sizes can be selected so the row optimizer favors those assemblies.
Supported sizes currently include exterior tables in a 6–12 module range and interior tables at 20, 22, or 24 modules. Product versions may extend those catalogs; do not hard-code a size in a bid without checking the active configuration.
Rows
Rows assemble tables to meet a target module count while honoring geometry and engineering constraints. When the preferred table cannot fit, alternatives appear rather than silently overlapping a setback.
Foundations on tables
Foundation post counts are properties of the table type. That is one of the links between layout and GeoLab: the layout knows how many posts it placed; GeoLab informs what those posts must do in the ground.
