Solar Layout Studio overview
How Solar Layout Studio turns site geometry into tables, rows, pitch-aware placement, foundation posts, and quantity outputs for ground-mount solar.
Updated 2026-08-22
Solar Layout Studio is the ground-mount layout workspace. It turns a site and its constraints into tables, rows, and quantities that estimating and procurement can use.
The workspace is geometry- and rule-driven. It is not a freehand drawing tool that forgets why a row moved.
What it produces
- buildable area from site boundary, fence setbacks, and non-buildable polygons
- table assemblies (modules on structure with foundation posts)
- rows of tables with pitch between rows
- placement that respects setbacks and keep-out areas
- counts and quantity-oriented outputs used downstream
How it connects
Table counts, utilization, and layout revisions are intended to synchronize toward estimating quantities and structural procurement packages. A layout revision should not live as an unlabeled PDF while the estimate still prices the previous row count.
Scope honesty
Capabilities described here are those implemented in the layout engines: site / buildable area, table and row configuration, pitch, setbacks, foundation post counts on tables, and BOM-oriented quantity roll-ups. Do not read this as a promise of every tracker OEM’s proprietary design software.
